Town Hall Recap: Moving Forward Together
Thank you to everyone who joined us for our Member Town Hall on Thursday, August 27!
It meant more to us than you may know to look out into that room and see so many familiar faces — people who have built friendships here, found strength here, created memories here, and made the YWCO a part of their lives.
We know that showing up and speaking openly isn't always easy. We are especially grateful to those of you who took the time to ask questions, share concerns, offer suggestions, and tell us honestly about your experiences. Your willingness to have those conversations with us is something we value deeply.
The YWCO is your community, and your voice matters. We don't take for granted that you care enough to tell us where we're doing well, where we can do better, and what you hope this organization can become.
We heard you.
Your feedback is now part of our ongoing conversations at every level of the organization. We are actively working through the concerns that were raised and looking for real, meaningful ways to respond. We know not every change can happen overnight, and some will take time, thought, and resources to get right. But we are committed to doing everything we can with what we have to build a better, more responsive experience for every member who walks through our doors.
Here’s What We Heard — and What We’re Doing
5-Day Pass — Back by member request
We are bringing back our 5-Day Pass, giving guests and prospective members an opportunity to experience everything the YWCO has to offer before making a longer-term commitment. It's a small step, but one that reflects the openness you asked for.
SilverSneakers & Insurance-Based Fitness Programs — We value your participation
We know how important SilverSneakers, Renew Active, and Tivity are to many members of our YWCO community, and we want to reassure you that these insurance-based fitness programs remain an important part of our membership community.
These programs provide reimbursement to YWCO through participating insurance providers, with rates established nationally. Depending on the insurance provider, YWCO receives between $3.25 and $3.75 for each eligible check-in, up to 10 visits per month. This means an eligible member’s check-ins can provide up to $32.50–$37.50 in monthly reimbursement for YWCO.
That’s why scanning your membership card every time you visit is so important. Every check-in helps us receive the reimbursement associated with your participation and supports our ability to continue offering these programs.
We remain committed to our members who participate through SilverSneakers, Renew Active, Tivity, and other insurance-based fitness programs, and to finding ways to strengthen and expand the programming and opportunities available to you. Your participation and continued presence in our community matter to us.
Membership Pricing — Under review
We are reviewing our overall pricing structure with affordability and accessibility in mind. We understand how central cost can be to whether the YWCO remains part of someone's life, and our goal is to build a structure that reflects that understanding while supporting the long-term sustainability of the organization.
Communication — A new approach, because we can do better
You told us that communication has not always met the mark, and we are taking that seriously. We are actively researching a new member communication system that will allow us to share updates, schedule changes, program information, and facility announcements more effectively and consistently.
In the meantime, our website remains the most reliable source for current YWCO information. We are keeping our fitness schedule updated online so members can check the most current class times, instructors, and schedule changes before coming to the YWCO. We will also have printed copies of important updates and information available at the Front Desk for members who prefer that option.

Pool Air Handling System — Investment underway
We are continuing our work on a new air handling system for the pool. The system is designed to improve air quality, humidity control, temperature, and overall comfort in the pool environment. It will help reduce excess humidity and the strong pool smell in the air, bring in fresh air, and better regulate the pool room environment.
It’s the kind of improvement you may not see right away, but you will feel it — less humidity, fresher air, and a more comfortable environment for swimmers, families, and staff. This is an important investment in the health, safety, comfort, and long-term sustainability of our aquatics facility.
More Ways to Get Involved
Community is at the heart of who we are, and we are expanding opportunities for members to help shape the YWCO through volunteer committees, community groups, special events, and other opportunities to get involved based on your interests, availability, and the causes you care about.
What Happens Next?
These are early steps, not the finish line.
We want to be thoughtful and deliberate about the changes we make, ensuring that every decision serves our members today while supporting the long-term future and sustainability of the YWCO for generations to come.
And we don’t want the Town Hall to be the end of the conversation.
We’ll keep listening. We’ll keep communicating. And as this work moves forward, we’ll keep sharing what we’re doing with your feedback.

Thank you for being part of this community. Thank you for trusting us enough to speak honestly. And thank you for giving us the opportunity to listen, learn, and grow alongside you.
